As part of a plan for new and improved landscaping aesthetics around Reaves Park, tree removal will occur by a contractor. The work will take place on the east side of Jenkins Avenue between Timberdell Road and Reaves Park Road from 8:30 a.m. to noon on 12/13/24. Work should not impact traffic.
The trees to be removed had been previously cut back for power line clearance in the area. Although the power lines have since been buried, the slow-growing species may not regain full canopies. The trees to replace them - bald cypress trees, to be planted next month - are more suitable to the park and area, according to the City of Norman Forestry Division.
