PT Timah Tbk Integrates Environmental Management and Community Empowerment

PANGKALPINANG -- PT Timah Tbk continues to strive to run a mining business ecosystem that is sustainable and has a direct impact on society.

To be able to carry out sustainable mining practices, PT Timah Tbk is aiming at the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through responsible and sustainable mining practices.

Through the company's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. Members of the Indonesian mining holding MIND ID carry out a number of sustainable environmental programs such as protecting marine ecosystems.

In 2022, PT Timah Tbk's CSR implements an environmental program with the concept of empowering coastal communities. The programs implemented are coral garden, mangrove planting and fishing ground.

Coral Garden is a company effort to create a coral garden to support underwater tourism. The Coral Garden program was implemented on Putri Island, Belinyu District, Bangka Regency and in Air Antu Hamlet, Deniang Village, Bangka Regency.

The Coral Garden program involves fishing communities and tourism managers. Coral Garden was created, drowned, and cared for by the community.

Apart from the Coral Garden, PT Timah Tbk also carried out the Fishing Ground program, namely drowning FADs with a group of fishermen in Tanjung Gunung Village, Central Bangka Regency, Belo Laut Village, West Bangka Regency, in Teluk Limau, West Bangka Regency.

PT Timah Tbk also planted mangroves as an effort to reduce emissions and climate change. Mangrove planting is carried out together with the community, community and government. The number of mangroves planted was 15,100 scattered in several areas.

PT Timah Tbk's CSR program to plant mangroves was carried out in Opas Village, Pangkalpinang, Beriga Beach, Central Bangka, Belo Laut Area, West Bangka, Tanjung Balai Karimun Coast and Rebo Beach Coast, Bangka Regency.

PT Timah Tbk's Corporate Communications Head, Anggi Siahaan said, in managing the environment PT Timah Tbk involves the community in the company's operational areas.

This is in line with the concept of sustainable mining, where CSR programs are expected to have an economic impact on society.
