Building Safety Month 2024

Join us in celebrating the month of May as Building Safety Month in Tustin! The month of May has been proclaimed as Building Safety Month by the International Code Council (ICC) and the City of Tustin's City Council, with this year's overall theme being "Mission Possible."

Throughout the month of May we will specifically highlight the diverse roles involved in ensuring building safety. Building departments are comprised of a variety of professionals dedicated to upholding safety standards in construction and maintenance. Here are just a few of the key positions :

  • Building Official - Develop, administer, apply, enforce codes.
  • Building Inspector - Inspect structures to determine compliance with building codes and standards.
  • Special Inspector - Inspect specialized structural fabrication and placement.
  • Plans Examiner - Review plans of structures and if it meets criteria for building codes and standards.
  • Permit Technician - Issue and develop permits ensuring compliance with codes.
