Aspiravi is facilitating power provision to large companies

As a private individual, you may well have considered how you can optimise your electricity provision in the past year. This also applies to many large companies, some of which found a partner for tackling their power issues in Aspiravi. For example, the two wind turbines along the Albert Canal in Ham, which have been operational since 2016, were disconnected from the public grid and connected directly to Nike's grid which is located nearby. This involves a direct line, which means 100% of the locally produced power is consumed by the sports company's logistics centre. Another such direct line had been provided earlier when constructing the wind turbine on the business park of d'Arta in Ardooie (2022), Harol in Diest (2021) and when constructing 2 wind turbines at Aperam in Genk (2016).

A similar, but indirect power provision was recently agreed with the Brussels public transport company STIB. They will consume 100% of the green power produced by the recently constructed wind farms in Pelt, Ruddervoorde and Wervik. This will not take place with a direct line, but through an intermediary that buys the volume of power produced from Aspiravi Energy and supplies it to STIB. This will enable the company to implement a significant greening of its power consumption and usage.

Another example is the solar panels for Hasselt Centrale Werkplaatsen, which will be connected to a recently installed battery managed by Aspiravi, such that any excess of green power production during peak times will not be lost, but can still be used at night. Originally, the battery served purely to stabilise the grid, but this new intention is another example of more sustainable energy provision for major consumers. With a view to the future, Aspiravi is aiming to set up and implement further similar agreements.
