New Deputy Shire President

Tracey Muir takes on new role as Deputy Shire President.

Thursday's Council Meeting saw Councillor Tracey Muir elected as Deputy Shire President, following Cr Cristoffanini's resignation from Council.

Cr Muir was sworn in as Deputy Shire President during the meeting. You can read her profile here.

Cr Cristoffanini's resignation as Councillor is effective from 3 May and will be filled in accordance with the Local Government Act 1995. The Act states that where a vacancy occurs, it should be offered to the candidate that received the next highest number of votes during the most recent Local Government election.

Her position will be filled by Melissa D'Ath who ran for Councillor in the Shire's 2023 election. Ms D'Ath will be sworn in on 6 May prior to a special council meeting.

Cr Cristoffanini spent four and half years of service on Council and also served as Shire President. She will be relocating to Perth.
