Tribute Towers Memorial Honors Fallen Heroes at Bluff City Cemetery This Memorial Day Weekend

This Memorial Day weekend, from Saturday, May 25 to Monday, May 27, Remembering Our Fallen, a photographic war memorial, will be displayed at Bluff City Cemetery, located at 945 Bluff City Boulevard in Elgin, Illinois. This display serves as a reminder of the ultimate sacrifice made by those who died from wounds suffered in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The memorial includes 34 Tribute Towers adorned with military and personal photos of over 5,000 fallen heroes who laid down their lives from September 11, 2001, to August 30, 2021. Originally unveiled at the national stage of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. in late 2017, this solemn display serves as a reminder of the selfless dedication of those who wore the uniform of our nation.

Organizers continue their efforts to reach out to Gold Star families, striving to include every American hero who has died in The War on Terror. Families are encouraged to participate at no cost by providing basic information and two photos of their fallen loved one. To submit photos, visit the Remembering Our Fallen website.

This national memorial also includes Tribute Towers that recognize the servicemen and women who lost their lives in training accidents or attacks while stationed both domestically and overseas. It acknowledges the sobering reality of post-traumatic stress, honoring those who, battling invisible wounds, tragically succumbed to suicide.

As one of many events being held over Memorial Day weekend, this national Memorial stands as a central place for reflection and remembrance. For further details on Memorial Day events, please visit elginmemorialday.org.
