Previewing the Hershey Bears 2021-22 Season

The 84th season of Hershey Bears hockey begins on Saturday, Oct. 16 at GIANT Center. Hershey opens their 76-game regular season and Calder Cup pursuit against the Charlotte Checkers.

Hershey begins the season after an undefeated, three-game exhibition schedule. The Bears won a 5-4 preseason affair against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Oct. 8 followed by consecutive victories against Lehigh Valley on Oct. 10 and Oct. 13.

On Opening Night, the first 8,000 fans at GIANT Center will receive a magnet schedule courtesy of PNC Bank. AAA License Plate Night for the first 5,000 fans follows on Oct. 17 when the Bears host Lehigh Valley.

Within Hershey's 38 home games, 13 are versus their in-state rivals Lehigh Valley Phantoms (7) and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (6). The Bears' keynote promotional night, the GIANT Teddy Bear Toss is slated for Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022, versus Hartford. The Bears' schedule also features three Hersheypark Pass Nights on Jan. 23, 2022, Feb. 2, 2022 and March 2, 2022.

On the ice, Hershey will look to continue their success from an abbreviated 2020-21 season. Last season, the Bears captured the North Division crown as well as top record in the American Hockey League. The Calder Cup was not awarded last spring due to the pandemic-shortened season.

Returning players from last season include captain Matt Moulson, Shane Gersich, Axel Jonsson-Fjallby, Garrett Pilon, Joe Snively, Kale Kessy, Brett Leason, Alex Alexeyev, Brian Pinho, Eddie Wittchow, Kody Clark, Lucas Johansen, Pheonix Copley and Zach Fucale.

Tickets for October and November home games at GIANT Center are currently available. Visit HersheyBears.com more for information.
