MetroHealth Appoints New Chief Ethics, Risk & Compliance Officer

MetroHealth President & CEO Airica Steed, Ed.D, RN, MBA, FACHE, has named Christopher Briddell,MBA, CHC, CIA, a nationally recognized executive with decades of healthcare experience, as the System's Senior Vice President and Chief Ethics, Risk & Compliance Officer.

In this role, Briddell will oversee enterprise-wide compliance and regulatory programs and serve as a senior advisor to the CEO and Board of Trustees on all areas related to compliance, corporate integrity, business conduct, privacy, enterprise risk management and internal audit operations. He will play a leading role in enhancing MetroHealth's efforts to continue to advance clinical and academic excellence, healthcare quality, health equity and compliance with all federal and state laws and industry standards, for the ultimate benefit of the patients and communities we serve. Briddell starts in his new role Monday, May 20, and will report directly to the CEO.

Briddell has a wide range of experience with for-profit, non-profit and academic medical systems and has a demonstrated history of driving improvements in compliance and enterprise risk management while also supporting enhanced patient care and financial growth. He previously served as Chief Compliance Officer at Centurion Health in Sterling, Va., Chief Compliance Officer at AnMed Health in Anderson, S.C. and prior to that was Chief Compliance Officer & Chief Audit Officer for Adventist Healthcare in Gaithersburg, Md. Earlier in his career, he served in key leadership positions with University of Maryland Medical System and formerly as a consultant with KPMG.
