Celebrate Lakeridge Playfield & Play Area on August 13!

Seattle Parks and Recreation invites the community to celebrate the renovated Lakeridge Playfield and Play Area! Join us on Saturday, August 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Brad Evans, Sounders FC Brand Ambassador will join us and RAVE Foundation will be giving away soccer balls. The Seattle Youth Soccer Association and Seattle United will lead soccer skills training on the new futsal court and the Seattle Metro Pickleball Association, Baseball Beyond Borders and Rainier Little League will organize pickleball, wiffle ball games and more. It will be a fun time with soccer, food, music, and activities plus an opportunity for the community to explore all the improvements! Lakeridge Playground, 10145 Rainier Ave S. 98178, is in southeast Seattle.

The park features a new play area with slides, swings, and climbing opportunities. The multi-sports court offers futsal and basketball plus there are new pickleball courts. Additional funding became available, and this project grew to include priorities for the community such as the renovated comfort station, a loop pathway, accessible play area surfacing and roofs for the baseball dugouts.

The project is a collaboration of private and public funding. The Seattle Park District funded the original base project. RAVE Foundation, the official charitable arm of Seattle Sounders FC, in partnership with Seattle United and Seattle Youth Soccer Association, contributed funding for the futsal (soccer) and basketball court, and will provide free programming to community youth starting next summer, and the Laurelhurst Pickleball Group through the Seattle Metro Pickleball Association contributed funding for the pickleball courts. The project was also the recipient of a King County Youth Sports Grant.
