Bakersfield College Pantry to Hold Renegade Farmers Market Offering Students Free Fruits and Vegetables on March 21, 2023

The Bakersfield College Renegade Nexus and Pantry will hold its next Farmers Market event to distribute free fruits and vegetables to students on March 21, 2023.

The Renegade Nexus is a hub on campus where BC's students can connect with essential resources such as food and hygiene products. In addition to distribution events, Bakersfield College has an on-campus pantry open to all enrolled BC students which is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00AM to 6:00PM.

The Renegade Pantry began in 2009 when the BC Student Government Association responded to a growing need facing students: food insecurity. The initial Renegade Pantry program helped maintain the health and welfare of Bakersfield College students through organized support, community sponsorships, and donations of nonperishable food items.

In January of this year, the pantry partnered with the Community Action Partnership of Kern (CAPK) to expand our pantry services to include a monthly farmer's market. By partnering with CAPK, BC's Pantry is now able to provide free and nutritious fruits and vegetables to students, staff, faculty, and community members. Our next farmer's market is on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, beginning at 10:00am on the Bakersfield College main campus. The community is invited to visit campus and join us.
