City to Observe Arbor Day Celebration Friday

The City of Fort Morgan Parks Department is teaming up with Cargill to hold an Arbor Day celebration Friday, April 26, at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Staff and volunteers will be meeting at 10:00 a.m. and getting their hands dirty in the digging and planting of theadditional trees as part of the partnership between the City of Fort Morgan and Rotary Club on the 100 Trees Project.

Fort Morgan Parks Superintendent, Jorge Rico said trees provide numerous environmental, economic and health benefits to the citizens of Fort Morgan.

According to the National Arbor Day Foundation, there are several reasons to plant trees:

  • Trees conserve energy in the summer and save you money.
  • Trees help clear the air.
  • Trees bring songbirds close by.
  • Trees around your home can increase its value by up to 15 percent or more.
  • Trees help clean our rivers and streams.
  • Trees conserve energy in the winter.
  • Trees fight global warming.
  • Trees make your home and neighborhood beautiful.
