Meeting with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev

On September 15, the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, as part of his participation in the Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the city of Samarkand of the Republic of Uzbekistan, met with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

At the beginning of the conversation, the Leader of the Nation congratulated the honorable Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the successful presidency of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization

During the meeting, the heads of state touched upon topical issues of further development of cooperation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan

The high dynamics of bilateral relations in line with the strategic partnership and alliance was noted. Further promotion of interaction between the two countries in this spirit is recognized as meeting the fundamental interests and aspirations of the two fraternal peoples.

The parties highly appreciated the results of high-level confidence-based negotiations during the recent visit of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Uzbekistan. The head of our state expressed confidence that the systematic implementation of the agreements reached would give a qualitatively new impetus to the interaction of the parties in all aspects.

Trade and economic cooperation was named as a priority area of relations between the two countries. High dynamics of mutual trade turnover was noted.

The areas of energy and transport were identified as promising areas of cooperation, satisfaction was expressed with the start of the implementation of the project for the joint construction of two hydroelectric power plants on the Zarafshan River, the operation of direct rail links between the capitals of the two states.

The heads of state stressed the importance of further expanding the cultural and humanitarian component of relations between the two countries.

The parties expressed mutual interest in enriching the agenda of bilateral relations with new content.
