Southwestern automotive programs receive grant for welding equipment

The Iowa Automobile Dealers Association (IADA) Foundation for Education recently awarded Southwestern Community College's (SWCC's) automotive programs a $4,761 grant to provide funds for equipment, tools, and program development.

The automotive instructors at SWCC utilized the funds to purchase two Miller welder outfits-including helmets, gear, and equipment-to be utilized by students in the auto collision repair/refinish and automotive repair technology programs.

The IADA awarded $59,633 total during its 2024 grant program. SWCC was one of 17 automotive programs at Iowa community colleges to receive an IADA grant. The purpose of the grants, according to the IADA website, is to support automotive education in Iowa.
