Fort Morgan city officials want to clarify for residents that the recent closure of the pedestrian tunnel linking North State Street to Riverside Park is not a permanent closure.
The tunnel must remain closed during heavy construction work surrounding the tunnel path, which is already ongoing and expected to last for approximately a year.
Pedestrians will still be able to make it from the south side of Iinterstate 76 to the park by using the sidewalk on the east side of Main Street. The sidewalk goes underneath the freeway.
As always pedestrians are encouraged to use extreme caution when crossing any major streets or highways.
The city will update residents of any changes in this configuration and also when a date for reopening the tunnel is set.
