Partner Camille Vasquez Profiled in Cover Story of Felix Magazine

Partner Camille Vasquez is the subject of a cover story in the Fall Power Issue of luxury lifestyle publication Felix Magazine, entitled "Defining Justice in the Limelight."

The profile, which described Vasquez as a "powerful and skillful trial attorney," discussed the Johnny Depp defamation trial that launched her into the limelight and the cases she has been handling since, including representing Mexican pop star Gloria Trevi in a decades-old sexual abuse case.

Vasquez said she is careful in how she strategizes and approaches these cases, thinking about them from a holistic point of view, looking at what's happening inside and outside the courtroom, because the courtroom and the court of public opinion go hand in hand.

"Framing the narrative around cases is really important to clients," she said in the article released in January. "What is the overall strategy when it comes to not just what we do in the courtroom with litigation, but also outside the courtroom, the courtroom of public opinion with media and social media?"

As a woman in a male-dominated field, Vasquez encourages other women to harness their unique strengths as an advantage. She said more women are going to law school than men, but as they go through their career they're making the decision to have a family, which can slow their progression to leadership. She said the legal profession should be doing a better job of promoting women once they come back from having children.

Vasquez added that she has been able to find success in her career, in part, because she capitalizes when people underestimate her.

"I take it as a challenge and as a reason to up my game," Vasquez said. "… [T]hroughout my career, there have been moments where I've been underestimated or passed over for … opportunities, but it didn't deter me from keeping the confidence that my parents and my education (instilled in me) and the faith that I had in myself."
