McCaul Condemns Antisemitic Protests, Stands with Jewish Americans

WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Congressman Michael McCaul (R-Texas) - chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs - released the following statement after voting for the Antisemitism Awareness Act, legislation to combat the rise in antisemitic discrimination and hate speech on college campuses.

"For the last week, Americans have watched in horror as college campuses were taken over by far-left activist groups intent on violence and destruction. Applauded by Hamas and Iran, these activists have forcefully broken into private property, threatened Jewish students, and hurled antisemitic slurs. This is not free speech; it is hate speech and violence, and it cannot be tolerated. My father was a bombardier in World War II, fighting every day to end the scourge of antisemitism, and it is now our responsibility to ensure it does not return. While the Biden administration and many school administrators turn a blind eye, I am proud to stand up for the safety of Jewish students and all Jewish Americans with today's vote that declares 'enough is enough.'"
