Press release No. 498 of 29 November 2022

WIESBADEN- 61% of the just under 64,000 enterprises with 50 or more persons employed in Germany were part of a global value-added chain in 2020. In this context they received goods or services from other countries or delivered them there. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this is the result of a pilot study conducted among production, trade and service businesses. The data on goods and services in global value-added chains relate to goods or services with an annual sales value exceeding 100,000 euros. The study also shows that 1.6% of the enterprises transferred parts of their economic activities abroad between 2018 and 2020, the main reason being cost advantages.
