Beginning Monday, August 2, METRO passengers can use cash to purchase mobile tickets or add funds to their EZfare account at the Robert K. Pfaff Transit Center (631 S. Broadway St., Akron).
This feature, launched across the EZfare fare payment system used by METRO and 12 other agencies across Ohio, Kentucky and Michigan, ensures that cash-paying riders have access to touch-free services as more transit agencies seek contactless and low-touch ticketing solutions.
'This feature is a crucial step to ensure we continue to offer equitable fare payment options for our passengers,' said METRO CEO Dawn Distler. 'We hope this will encourage more passengers to utilize the EZfare app.'
Passengers can now add funds in their EZfare mobile ticketing account via credit card, which can be used to buy mobile tickets as needed. Both the EZfare and Transit apps support this new feature, which will be available in Moovit and Uber at a later date.
