Strasbourg Eurométropole Accelerates the Renewal of its Vehicle Fleet with Allison Transmissions

Paris, September 2023 - As part of the deployment of the LEZ (Low-Emission Zone), which started in January 2023, Strasbourg Eurométropole has accelerated the renewal of its fleet of road and household waste collection vehicles. The city is upgrading its fleet with 35 new refuse collection vehicles equipped with Allison fully automatic transmissions in the coming months.

Strasbourg Eurométropole has a fleet of 300 heavy-duty vehicles, 100 of which are equipped with Allison fully automatic transmissions. These vehicles are dedicated to the maintenance of public spaces and roads, including urban cleanliness, household waste collection and sanitation in the city of Strasbourg and the 33 municipalities surrounding it.

The renewal of the fleet started in 2020 and will extend until 2025 to meet the needs of the LEZ, representing an unprecedented investment, three times higher than average.

"With the deployment of the LEZ, it was important for us to have an exemplary approach. We favour vehicles meeting Crit'Air 1 or 0. We also attach great importance to the working conditions of our operators," said Pia Imbs, President of Strasbourg Eurométropole.
