The southbound lane of Route 1 from Depot Road to Route 88 will be closed briefly on Saturday, December 2 at 9:00am to accommodate the Ugly Sweater 5K road race. The closure is anticipated to last approximately 15 minutes as runners complete this leg of the course.
The race will begin at the American Legion on Depot Road. Depot Road will remain open, but cars will be held at the start of race for several minutes between the Library and Route 1 as runners proceed from the American Legion to Route 1. Runners will head south on Route 1 and then north up Route 88. The course includes the side streets of Old Mill, Edgewater, Anderson, and Ridgeway before runners return to Depot Road, cross Route 1, and end at the finish line at the American Legion. Route 88 and all side roads will remain open during the race.
Falmouth Police request that motorists proceed along the route with caution and patience, keeping the safety of the runners in mind. Falmouth Police will be posted at intersections to direct traffic during the race.
Volunteers will be stationed at parking lots along the race route to ensure that vehicles do not turn into the race as runners pass. Motorists exiting businesses along Route 1 and onto Depot Road may be asked to wait until it is safe to proceed. A few spots remain open for volunteers. Interested volunteers may sign up by clicking here.
Thank you for patience and consideration in supporting this community event to benefit Falmouth Memorial Library. We encourage you to come out and cheer the runners on along the route.
