VIDEO: On Fentanyl Awareness Day, Rosen Highlights Bipartisan Work to Tackle Fentanyl Smuggling

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, on Fentanyl Awareness Day, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released a video highlighting the work she's done across the aisle to tackle the fentanyl crisis. Amid a surge in fentanyl and other illicit drugs flowing across the southern border, Senator Rosen has worked in a bipartisan way to deliver meaningful actions to stop the flow of this deadly drug through the southern border.

"Across our state, I've heard from families and law enforcement officials about how the fentanyl crisis is putting Nevadans in danger and destroying our families. In Clark County alone, fentanyl overdoses increased by 97 percent between 2020 and 2023," says Senator Rosen in the video. "That's why I've made it a priority to work across the aisle to secure our border and stop the flow of fentanyl. On this National Fentanyl Awareness Day, know that I'll continue fighting to put a stop to the fentanyl crisis and make sure our communities and law enforcement have all of the support they need to keep Nevadans safe."

Senator Rosen has a robust track record of working across the aisle to address the fentanyl crisis, including:

• Her bipartisan END FENTANYL Act, which was signed into law this year, will help crack down on drug smuggling by requiring the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Commissioner to update its drug interdiction guidance to ensure it is up to date.
• Last month, the bipartisan FEND Off Fentanyl Act she co-sponsored to require the President to sanction drug rings involved in international drug trafficking was also signed into law.
• In the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Senator Rosen helped pass two bipartisan bills to improve CBP resources to better detect illicit drugs like fentanyl and other contraband smuggled across the U.S. southern border.
• She has called on the Biden administration to prioritize additional resources to stop the flow of illicit drugs like fentanyl through ports of entry along the border.
• Senator Rosen has also voted to advance legislation to provide nearly $14 billion in funding to strengthen border security.
