Minor injuries in Fort Edward Accident

INCIDENT SUMMARY: According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, on Tuesday September 26, 2023 at 10:12 AM, the Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a motorcycle vs. tractor trailer accident on Broadway near Park Avenue in the Town of Fort Edward.
Upon arriving on scene, Deputies located a motorcycle in the roadway with a tractor trailer nearby. The operator of the motorcycle was identified as Eric E. Meyers, 66 , of Lori Lane Hudson Falls, NY.
Upon investigation, it was determined that Meyers was southbound on Broadway and did not notice that a tractor trailer in front of him had slowed to make a right hand turn onto Park Avenue. Meyers was not able to stop in time, the motorcycle went down causing it to slide into the back of the tractor trailer.
The operator of the tractor trailer was identified as Justin L. Morales, 39, of London Sq. Drive Clifton Park, NY. Morales was making a local delivery at the time of the accident and was uninjured. There was minimal damage to the trailer. Meyers was evaluated on scene by Fort Edward EMS for left side body discomfort however was not transported to the hospital.
Traffic in the area was slowed for a short time while the scene was being cleared. No tickets have been issued at this time however the accident remains under investigation.
