Greenberg Traurig Becomes Fully Incorporated in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Final government approval coincides with the firm's first anniversary of KSA operations

NEW YORK - April 17, 2024 - Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP is now fully incorporated as a Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) law firm, having received all necessary approvals from the relevant government agencies. The final approval comes as the firm celebrates its one-year anniversary of operating in the Kingdom at its Riyadh location under the leadership of Middle East Regional Chair Khalid Al-Thebity, who also helps lead Greenberg Traurig's office in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), based in Dubai.

"This is an important milestone in the firm's strategic expansion in the Middle East," said Richard A. Rosenbaum, Greenberg Traurig's Executive Chairman. "It is particularly exciting to work closely with my good friend Khalid - who I have known for over a decade and has a long history of success in the Kingdom - as we lead our efforts in the region, where I regularly spend my personal time."

Al-Thebity noted that Greenberg Traurig's significant presence in global growth industries - such as real estate, hospitality, private equity, private credit, sovereign wealth, energy and infrastructure, sports, media and entertainment and disputes of all kinds - aligns perfectly with the vision of growth that political and business leaders of the KSA, UAE, and others in the region have expressed.

"The final approval for Greenberg Traurig to move forward in the KSA is an important achievement, allowing us to continue our strategic expansion as trusted legal counsel in numerous industries," Al-Thebity said. "We expect to announce a number of additional senior lawyer hires with significant experience in key economic sectors in the region shortly."

"Our presence in the Kingdom and the UAE is an integral and fast-growing part of one unified firm across the globe, built without mergers or vereins," Rosenbaum continued. "Greenberg Traurig's uniquely powerful, longstanding business model involves the early identification of and expansion into those U.S. and global markets the firm believes are poised for business growth and innovation, keeping unnecessary bureaucracy and internal politics to a minimum. We have already incorporated practices that are leading the region in quality and performance, particularly in real estate, hospitality, sports, entertainment and media, corporate, and funds representation. Our growth is accelerated in good part by the strength of Khalid and his predecessor firm, now part of Greenberg Traurig, which has been continuously operating in the region for over 25 years."

Over the years, attorneys now working for Greenberg Traurig in the KSA have formed strong relationships with key government officials, local regulators, and economic agents. They have advised private, government, and quasi-government clients on some of the most important corporate, finance, project and project finance, public-private partnership, infrastructure, natural resource, real estate, hospitality, privatization, corporatization, corporate restructurings, capital market, banking and finance, and legislative and regulatory matters in the KSA. Drawing on this experience and understanding of the local legal landscape, priorities, and market participants, the firm's attorneys help clients identify and take advantage of opportunities in the KSA, UAE, and elsewhere in the region.

Greenberg Traurig's KSA office is operated by Greenberg Traurig through Greenberg Traurig Khalid Al-Thebity Law Firm.
