Youth in Government Students Propose Projects

Post Date:02/29/2024

The City's Youth in Government students concluded this year's program at the City Council meeting held on February 27. La Mirada High School students participated in the award-winning program and made their final presentations to La Mirada City Council. The students proposed two projects, including a City Fitness Initiative and a Veterans Concert.

The students first proposed a Fitness Initiative that would promote healthy activities including 5K runs, installing fitness equipment at parks, and encouraging mental fitness. The second proposed project aims to combine the City's veteran recognition events with a Veterans Concert that would pay tribute to local veterans.

Youth in Government project proposals have often been implemented including Santa's Holiday Caravan, the La Mirada College Banner program, and Farmers Market.

The presentation marked the conclusion of the program, which has been in place for 64 years. For additional information, contact La Mirada City Hall at (562) 943-0131.
