At the MRO Americas show, Safran underscores its maintenance, repair and overhaul activities; signs support agreements

MRO Americas- the largest event for aviation's maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) sector - put the focus on Safran's solutions for operators in civil and military markets, and the company made headlines with the signing of support agreements involving four of its businesses: Safran Electrical & Power with Safran Ventilation Systems; Safran Landing Systems; and Safran Nacelles.

Maintenance of APUs, electrical contactors and ventilation systems

Safran kicked off its new business activity at last week's MRO Americas show in Dallas, Texas by signing a contract with AJW Group to maintain electrical power generators, electrical contactors and ventilation systems equipment. This contract covers more than 350 Airbus A320 and A330 jetliners, including AJW Group's flagship customers' fleets. Under the contract, Safran Electrical & Power will repair company-built auxiliary power units generators (APUs) as well as all the electrical contactors, while Safran Ventilation Systems will maintain the ventilation systems (avionics fans, skin air valves and brake cooling fans).

Safran Landing Systems' wheels and carbon brakes selected by two customers

Canada Jetlines, the new all-Canadian leisure carrier, selected Safran wheels and carbon brakes for its A320-family fleet. Under the long-term agreement, Safran Landing Systems will supply wheels, brakes and carbon heat sinks manufactured in its U.S.-based plant in Walton, Kentucky. Safran Landing Systems is the world leader on the A319 and A320 market for wheels and carbon brakes, equipping almost 5,000 airplanes to date - which is more than 70% of the A320-family fleet worldwide.

Also announced at MRO Americas was Air Transport Services Group's (ATSG)selection of Safran wheels and carbon brakes for the retrofit of its Boeing 767 cargo aircraft fleet. The Wilmington, Ohio-based ATSG is the world's largest lessor of freighter aircraft and a leading provider of air cargo transportation services. As part of this long-term agreement, Safran Landing Systems will supply ATSG with on-wing shipsets, initial provisioning spares, piece parts and carbon heat sink exchanges, and it will provide MRO services for the 767s' carbon brakes.

NacelleLife™ service contracts

In other business developments at MRO Americas, Safran Nacelles signed a 10-year service contract with Viva Air Colombia for the nacelles of this low-cost airline's growing fleet of A320neo aircraft powered by LEAP-1A engines from CFM International (the 50/50 joint company of Safran Aircraft Engines and GE.

Additionally, Safran Nacelles signed a six-year contract renewal with Hawaiian Airlines to service the thrust reversers on this carrier's 24 Airbus A330ceo aircraft. Safran Nacelles will continue to support Hawaiian at its MRO shops located in the U.S. and France during scheduled maintenance, or one-time repairs during unscheduled maintenance. As part of the contract, Safran Nacelles also provides access to a pool of thrust reversers.

In the United States, Safran's network of repair centers provides customers with MRO services tailored to the quality, cost, and turnaround requirements of a highlight competitive market.
