Remains of Alex Jackson of Windham, Maine Discovered in Stark, New Hampshire

Concord, NH -- Attorney General John M. Formella, New Hampshire State Police Colonel Mark Hall, and New Hampshire Fish and Game Colonel Kevin J. Jordan announce that a body recovered from Stark, New Hampshire has been identified as a missing man from Maine.

On Friday, April 19, 2024, the New Hampshire State Police and New Hampshire Fish and Game, with assistance from the Maine State Police, the Windham, Maine Police Department, and Maine Warden Service, conducted a search in an area of Stark, New Hampshire. During this search, human remains were located and transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Concord. An autopsy was conducted by Deputy Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Mitchell L. Weinberg. The cause and manner of the man's death are not being released at this time, but the remains have been identified as Alex Jackson (age 34) of Windham, Maine. Mr. Jackson went missing on approximately May 14, 2023. Mr. Joseph Chute (age 30) of Leeds, Maine is currently charged with causing Mr. Jackson's death in Maine before the Androscoggin County Superior Court.

The Maine Attorney General's Homicide Unit is prosecuting Mr. Chute for Mr. Jackson's death. Additional questions about this prosecution and the details of the search should be directed to Office of the Maine Attorney General.
