Pelosi Statement on the Passing of Senator Joe Lieberman

San Francisco - Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi issued this statement on the passing of former Senator Joe Lieberman:

"Today, America lost a leader of integrity and patriotism with the passing of Senator Joe Lieberman. He was committed to ensuring America's national security and was a mainstay of the Munich Security Conference, where we last saw each other in February. In the Senate and as a vice presidential candidate, he helped pave the way for Jewish Americans in public service. While we often disagreed on politics, no one could doubt his love of his family, his home state of Connecticut and his country.

"Senator Lieberman's sudden passing is devastating to his many friends in Congress and to his many admirers across the country. May it be a comfort to his dear wife Hadassah, his children Matthew, Rebecca and Hana, his stepson Ethan, his many grandchildren and the entire Lieberman family that so many mourn their loss during this difficult time."
