Jimmies to compete at Cobber Open Saturday

The University of Jamestown men's and women's indoor track and field teams will be competing at the Cobber Open on Saturday, in Moorhead, Minn., hosted by Concordia-Moorhead College.


The field events begin at 11 a.m. with track events starting at 11:45 a.m. with the women's 4 x 200 meter relay.

Jamestown last competed on Sunday in Aberdeen, S.D., in a dual against Northern State University.

UJ took home seven first-place finishes, with Julia Johnson (SR/Park River, N.D.) and Tyson Akers (SO/Des Lacs, N.D.) each winning a pair of events.

Johnson won the long jump (17' 4') and the triple jump (37' 6 3/4'), and became the first Jimmie this season to qualify for the NAIA National Championships with her mark in the triple jump.

Akers also won the triple jump (41' 4 1/2') and the 55 meters (6.68 seconds).

Noah Mang (SO/West Chester, Ohio) won the 800 in 2:03.12, while Lindi Chadwick (SR/Jamestown, N.D.) took top honors in the 3000 (11:20.70).

Damond Anderson (JR/Lee's Summit, Mo.) cleared 6' 4' to win the high jump.
