A meeting was held between Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov and the delegation consisting of Chairman of the European Union policy commission of the Italian Senate, senator Giulio Terzi di Sant'Agata, Head of the Italy-Azerbaijan friendship group Marco Scurria and member Ettore Rosato at the Ministry of Energy.

During the meeting, the parties expressed satisfaction with the development of strategic partnership relations between the countries and the expanding cooperation in the energy sector. The role of inter-parliamentary relations in the development of bilateral relations was discussed. It was noted that Italy is not only the main trading partner of Azerbaijan but also an importer of Azerbaijani oil and gas. It is also a partner playing an important role in the relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on Azerbaijan's contribution to the energy security through the Southern Gas Corridor and TAP, as well as on expanding cooperation in the field of electric power.
