Texas Young Lawyers Association launches 'Adulting' website,
helps young adults understand their legal rights and responsibilities
AUSTIN -The Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA) has launched "Adulting," a new multimedia website to educate students and the public about their rights and responsibilities under the law on reaching adulthood.
"Remember as a kid when you couldn't wait to grow up?" asks TYLA President Laura Pratt. "You looked forward to making your own rules and doing whatever you wanted. Then you woke up one morning with enough birthdays to be legally considered an adult, only to find out that actual 'adulting' is way harder than you expected."
Online at adulting.tyla.org, the site covers a wide range of legal topics, including contracts, consumer protection, healthcare, marriage, housing, employment, and much more. It uses short videos, resource guides, and other information to help young adult Texans understand their rights and responsibilities under the law. The site also includes educational resources for classroom instruction on these topics. The project was funded by a $48,000 grant to TYLA from the Texas Bar Foundation.
