East Walnut Street to close between College Avenue and Ripley Street Thursday, March 30
(COLUMBIA, MO)- Between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Thursday, March 30, East Walnut Street will be closed between College Avenue and Ripley Street. Westbound traffic on East Walnut Street will be detoured around the closure either north or south onto Ripley Street. Signs and flaggers will be present to assist motorists, people walking and people biking.
The closure is part of the East Walnut Street resurfacing project, which began March 20 and will continue through July. Intermittent lane restrictions and closures will continue to be required along East Walnut Street between College Avenue and Old Highway 63 North throughout the remainder of the project.
The scope of the East Walnut Street resurfacing project includes an area approximately 2,700 feet long, starting at College Avenue and ending at Old Highway 63. The design includes asphalt resurfacing along the entire length of the project. The project also includes the reconstruction of approximately 1,550 linear feet of curb and gutter and approximately 2,280 square feet of sidewalk. The sidewalk reconstruction will include new curb ramps and landings to meet ADA requirements. New pavement markings will also be made, including new crosswalk markings.
The East Walnut Street resurfacing project is anticipated to be completed by late July, weather permitting.
