MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - (May 1, 2024) Two men are facing multiple charges after being arrested for allegedly robbing Dollar General and then leading police on a short chase and foot pursuit.

Johnny Cross, 61, was arrested on Freedom Court after running from the police. Cross is charged with aggravated robbery, felony evading, misdemeanor evading, three counts of felony reckless endangerment, and leaving the scene of an accident.

Tedarreis Thompson, 33, was arrested on Winthorne Court; he too ran from police. Thompson is facing charges of aggravated robbery, assault, interfering with an emergency 911 call, and vandalism. He also had an outstanding warrant for domestic assault.

The men are accused of robbing the Dollar General on Halls Hill Pike at gunpoint around 3:10 p.m. Tuesday, April 30.

With the help of Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) technology, crime data analysts assisted patrol officers with tracking the getaway car, an older white model Chevy Impala. Officers conducted a felony stop at the intersection of Northfield Blvd. and Memorial Blvd. The driver sped away. The car was involved in a minor collision with another vehicle on Saddlebrook Dr. before coming to a stop at a dead end on Winthorne Dr. Both men jumped out of the car and took off running.

The investigation continues.

Thompson and Cross remain in jail at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. Thompson's bond is set at $82,000. Cross has a $112,000 bond. Hearings are scheduled for June 11 and June 18 for Thompson in Rutherford County General Sessions Court. Cross will appear in court on June 18.
