The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces to motorists that work at the SR 2 and Red Mill Road Intersection will begin on Monday, June 12. The proposed improvements for this project include additional turn and through lanes at the intersection, bike and pedestrian facilities and a rebuilt traffic signal. This project is expected to be ongoing through Fall 2024.
The first phase of work will include 24/7 closure of turn lane from Route 2/Capitol Trail Westbound to Polly Drummond Hill Road Northbound, 24/7 lane closure on Polly Drummond Hill Road Northbound, and 24/7 closure of the right turn lane on Red Mill Road Northbound to Route 2/Capitol Trail Eastbound. Daily intermittent lane closures are expected on Route 2/Capitol Trail and Red Mill Road from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Additional information will be provided with phase changes.
Motorists should use caution and expect minor delays in the area.
