Rapid Response Services comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng achieve multiple successes

From Friday 12 April to Thursday 18 April 2024 Rapid Response Services comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested 116 suspects, recovered 53 motor vehicles and nine firearms.

Members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to 56 arrests for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, murder, intimidation, theft, possession of suspected stolen property, business robbery, tampering with essential structure, robbery, malicious damage to property, contravention of a protection order, hijacking, sexual assault, domestic violence, corruption, illegal immigrants and kidnapping.

A total of 53 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with nine arrests for the possession of these vehicles. Nine unlicensed firearms were recovered accompanying five arrests.

In further policing 46 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs. Heroin, dagga, cocaine, mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.

Investigation continues in these cases.

The suspects will be appearing in the local Magistrates courts across Gauteng.
