Caterpillar Marine Power UK Ltd Supports Local Charity to Help Dorset Families Make Memories

Caterpillar Marine Power UK Ltd has presented a cheque to Carly Hopkin, Trustee of the Lexi May Trust, for the money the facility raised through the end of 2023.

Every two years, the facility based on the Ferndown and Uddens Business Improvement District, which manufactures marine propulsion and auxiliary engines, including generator sets under the Cat® and Perkins® marine brands, selects a local charity to support via a programme of fundraising activities.

Employees of Caterpillar Marine Power UK Ltd selected the Lexi May Trust as the charity they wished to support, raising a total of £6118.

Lexi May was the middle child of Carly and Michael, who sadly lost her life to an inoperable brain tumour known as DIPC. In Lexi's memory, the family set up the Lexi May Trust to support terminally ill children and those living with life-limiting illnesses in Dorset. The Trust provides a beach hut in Swanage to welcome families into a quiet space away from home to enjoy family time or a place to grieve.

"Covid has been a challenging time for charities and for companies, whose fundraising depends on organised events and people working full time in the office," comments Jude Castell who leads the Charity Committee. "We consistently look to run events, including raffles and special days at the facility to try and raise as much as we can."
