(It's really happening): Reimagined HFC website, update #3: site launch is May 12

The new HFC website (dubbed "HawkCentral") is coming in just a couple of weeks. This long-term project reimagines the user experience (the primary user is HFC students) through a lengthy series of research and communications efforts, the application of best practices, and an overhaul of how our core audiences will engage with us through the College website and its resources.

This project is tightly aligned with the priorities and goals of the HFC strategic plan of enhancing student success. For those who have regularly used the existing (soon to be "old") HFC website, you'll recognize the user-centered DNA and efforts to create a sense of community as new users begin their journey with us and current users take advantage of the resources, events, activities, news, and other opportunities.

You can find deeply detailed information in our previous updates here (update 2) and here (update 1).

While the main objective of this project is to improve the organization and overall experience for our visitors, the project will also modernize the website to freshen the look and bring many behind-the-scenes improvements.

We will invite feedback on the new website experience through a form that will be available on every page of the site. We encourage you to take a look around, tell us what you like, what's interesting, and anything that's not working the way you would expect it to work.

As new concerns and more substantial potential changes emerge from our colleagues and from students, we will schedule those for further analysis and planning int he coming months. We are calling this Phase 2 of the project.

All aspects of our website redevelopment will adhere as closely as possible to best practices including DEIB principles, usability/user experience principles, and accessibility principles.

The HawkCentral project will not end with the new website launch. Our immediate objective is to improve the HFC website experience and remove barriers for high school seniors and adult students planning for college, and for current students. This first phase lays the groundwork for HawkCentral's more ambitious goals for Phase 2 and beyond.
