ABA Foundation Accepting Submissions for 12th Annual Community Commitment Awards

WASHINGTON -

Today, the American Bankers Association Foundation announced it is now accepting submissions for its 12th annual Community Commitment Awards. The Foundation is encouraging banks of all sizes to enter their most successful community initiatives for the awards, ABA's highest honors for extraordinary community engagement. The CCAs recognize innovative, high-impact bank programs that improve the quality of life for the communities they serve. The entry period for submitting nominations closes July 1.

"The Community Commitment Awards recognize and applaud banks across the country for their dedication to bettering the lives of the customers and communities they serve," said Rob Nichols, ABA president and CEO. "I look forward to seeing a wide array of impressive bank programs making a real difference in people's lives. They will serve as a tremendous example for the rest of the industry."

Banks interested in submitting Community Commitment Award nominations can enter into one of seven categories ranging from affordable housing to volunteerism, while the George Bailey Award recognizes an individual non-CEO bank employee demonstrating extraordinary commitment to their bank and community.

"We encourage all banks to consider submitting this year," said Lindsay Torrico, executive director, ABA Foundation. "We know there are many great examples of banks creating a deep impact in local communities across the country. The CCAs are an opportunity to be recognized for mission-driven work and dedication to community on a national stage."

Banks of all asset sizes are eligible to enter, and submissions will be judged by a panel of nationally recognized experts in each category. The categories are:

  1. Affordable Housing;
  2. Community and Economic Development;
  3. Financial Education;
  4. Financial Inclusion;
  5. Protecting Older Americans;
  6. Supporting Military Families;
  7. Volunteerism; and
  8. The George Bailey Distinguished Service Award, for non-CEO bank employees who demonstrate outstanding service to their bank, industry and community.

Winners will be recognized at ABA's Annual Convention in New York this October and featured in the Foundation's "Banks in Their Communities" database. The searchable database on the ABA website, showcases program entries by state, highlighting corporate social responsibility efforts within the banking industry. More than 500 program profiles are currently displayed from across America.
