The Deputy Minister of National Defence, Mr. Ioannis Kefalogiannis, participated today, Monday 22 April 2024, in the Foreign Affairs Council of the European Union, with the participation of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Ministers, in Luxembourg.
The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Mr. Josep Borrell, briefed the members of the Council on the latest developments in the war of Ukraine. At the beginning of
the meeting, the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Dmytro Kuleba, and the Ukrainian Minister of Defence, Mr. Rustem Umerov, joined the works via teleconference.
At the Council meeting, further military support by the European Union to Ukraine was discussed.
The Deputy Minister of National Defence referred to the support provided by Greece, up to this day.
In the margins of the Council, Mr. Kefalogiannis had a private meeting with the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Vasilis Palmas.
