Patient Warning About 'Spoofing' Calls

A number of our patients have notified us that they have received fraudulent phone calls from people claiming to be Bellin Health representatives. Callers are seeking personal health and other sensitive information, including prescription information, Medicare account numbers, and recent medical equipment purchases - all of which can be used for identity theft.

The calls may seem legitimate because they appear to come from a legitimate Bellin Health phone number, but they are actually spoofing calls. A spoofing call is when a caller deliberately falsifies the information transmitted to your caller ID display to disguise their identity.

If you receive a call (or a suspicious e-mail or text) do not respond in any way. Do not click on links or open attachments from suspicious sources. When in doubt, contact your Bellin Health clinic or hospital at a verified telephone number.
