Bendigo and Adelaide Bank celebrates inclusivity benchmark achievement

Bendigo and Adelaide Bank's status as an employer of choice has been recognised with an LGBTQ+ inclusion award from the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI), an initiative by Pride in Diversity. Pride in Diversity rigorously evaluates practices at Australia's top organisations with the index regarded as the national benchmark on LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion.

Each year, hundreds of organisations provide submissions to demonstrate inclusion initiatives designed to help build a stronger organisational culture. 2023 marks the first year the Bank has been recognised with bronze status and the recognition is testament to the Bank's ongoing commitment to workplace diversity and inclusion.

CEO and Managing Director of Bendigo and Adelaide Bank, Marnie Baker, says she is proud of the progress the organisation has made to date.
"This recognition is an important milestone for our Bank and shows our staff, customers and community that they are welcome in our organisation. It's important for us to create and encourage a space that is diverse, inclusive and safe," Ms Baker said.

"We encourage people to bring their authentic selves to work because if they feel they are included, are treated fairly and with integrity, it will drive a high-performing, motivated, productive working culture, leading to greater customer, community and commercial success," Ms Baker concluded.

Chief Customer Officer Business and Agribusiness and Executive Sponsor of Bendigo Bank's internal Pride Committee, Adam Rowse says achieving this standard is an outstanding result for the Bank.

"This award is the culmination of more than a year of work from the BEN Pride Committee, our Diversity and Inclusion team and our Pride Network across the Group and underscores the important work that has gone on to ensure that we hit the definitive benchmark for rainbow inclusion.

"We would like to thank Pride in Diversity for recognising this effort, and we look forward to continuing to build on our achievements, education and our other inclusive initiatives at Bendigo and Adelaide Bank," Mr Rowse said.
