Resilient Together: El Punto

The City of Salem, in partnership with the climate experts from the Woods Hole Group, is preparing for an in-depth study of how the climate crisis will impact the Point neighborhood specifically, and how we can best prepare for those impacts. Join us for the first community public forum on this project on January 26th at 5:30 p.m. online.

What is Climate Change and How Will it Affect Me?

The project will develop a plan to make the Point community more resilient to climate change. The plan will include:

  • Predictions of future flooding from sea level rise, storm surge, and rain;
  • An assessment of vulnerable populations and community assets affected by future flooding; and
  • Specific recommendations to make the community more resilient to future flooding and extreme heat.

The City will use the plan to guide future projects, programs, or policy changes.

Climate change is a major risk for Salem. There are several city-wide plans to address this challenge. The City's first plan to focus on a specific neighborhood is Resilient Together: El Punto.
