New Mural to be Installed Near Union Station

As part of the SEEK Raleigh program, Raleigh Arts is installing a new mural for the Raleigh community to enjoy. Titled Asian Joy, the mural is an oral history and community-driven project created by Ina Liu, Isabel Lu, and Sophie Tô.

The project uses storytelling and public art to support the well-being and belonging of our pan-ethnic Asian American (AA) community in North Carolina. AA oral histories that center on finding joy were collected and publicly archived. Using these stories, the team is finalizing the mural design and will install it adjacent to Union Station at the end of West Street in downtown Raleigh.

The installation of the mural will begin in May and take several weeks. The team will host a celebration in July. Check back here for details.

This project is supported by SEEK Raleigh, an experimental public art program by Raleigh Arts. This program aims to engage with the community in City of Raleigh parks, greenways, and/or community spaces.
