Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Northern Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: Leonard Olanna

PROJECT NAME: ADL 422182

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Within the traditional boundaries of the Olanna Range, near the York Mountains, on the Seward Peninsula. See the attached map and boundary description.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION: State, BLM, and National Park Service (NPS) lands within the traditional boundaries of the Olanna Range. See the attached map and boundary description.

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: The Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Mining, Land, and Water (DMLW), Northern Regional Land Office (NRO), has received an application from Leonard Olanna to graze reindeer within the traditional boundaries of the Olanna Range on the Seward Peninsula. According to the Grazing Management Plan submitted by the applicant, they currently have roughly 500 reindeer in a herd which is mixed with caribou. The applicant would like to grow the herd to approximately 1200 head during the term of the permit as well as conduct repairs to a corral located on Native Corp lands within the range boundary.

This activity was previously permitted under the casefile serialized by DMLW as LAS 13895. DMLW is adjudicating the renewal as a Special Land Use Permit with a term of 10 years and has assigned a new casefile- ADL 422182.

Start: December 1, 2023
End: November 30, 2033

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: September 28, 2023

The public is invited to comment on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at 3700 Airport Way, Fairbanks, AK 99709 on or before 5:00 p.m. on the date noted above.
