Tajani meets the mayors of Calabria, Lombardy, Sardinia, Sicily and Veneto to present the “Turismo delle radici” project

This afternoon, the Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, opened the fourth and final meeting at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to present the "Turismo delle radici" (Roots Tourism) project.

The event was attended by mayors, deputy mayors and councillors of municipalities with under 6,000 inhabitants from the regions of Calabria, Lombardy, Sardinia, Sicily and Veneto.

"Today, we conclude the cycle of meetings at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to share and deepen, together with local entities, the preparation of initiatives for 2024, the Year of Italian Roots in the World", said Tajani. "We have found strong appreciation and interest from the local areas for the "Turismo delle radici" project, an extraordinary opportunity to enhance and promote the excellence of local realities and Italian know-how. It is an essential part of our growth diplomacy strategy".

The "Turismo delle radici" project will allow Italian descendants and immigrants to discover the small villages and rural areas at the origin of the Italian migratory phenomenon, building an authentically local tourist offer that allows them to appreciate all the beauty, culture and age-old traditions of the villages from which their ancestors left.
