Shanghai, “National Forum on the Renaissance”

The Italian Cultural Institute in Shanghai, in cooperation with Italy's Consulate General in Shanghai and the Faculty of Humanities at Tongji University, presented the 11th "National Forum on the Renaissance". The Forum, held at the Shanghai Library East on 13 and 14 April, organised several workshops to orient Chinese researchers towards a more in-depth study of the Renaissance.

The Renaissance gatherings - considered spaces dedicated to the exchange of ideas and the dissemination of new knowledge to foster the creation of a network of socio-cultural exchanges, characterised an era of great cultural fervour in 15th- and 16th-century Europe.

Bearing this in mind, the Forum promoted discussions between experts and researchers in order to deepen knowledge of the Renaissance in an interdisciplinary context that encompassed European Renaissance philosophy, politics and history up to the literary and artistic currents of the time.
