Wayne Avenue and Carter Avenue Structure Replacements in White Township/Indiana Borough, Indiana County

Indiana, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing the replacement of the structures on Wayne and Carter Avenues over Marsh Run. This is the next phase of the resurfacing project that began in 2023 on Wayne Avenue in White Township and Indiana Borough, Indiana County.

Traffic on Wayne Avenue will be restricted to one lane in each direction with an 11-foot lane width restriction between Hospital Road and Maple Street. During the project, there will be various lane shifts on Wayne Avenue.

Carter Avenue will be closed from Wayne Avenue to South 7th Street. These restrictions and closures will start May 13 (after the Indiana University of Pennsylvania graduation) and finish August 16 (prior to the start of the Indiana County Fair). To detour, motorists will travel South 6^th Street to Indian Springs Road to Wayne Avenue.

There will be no left turn onto Hospital Road when travelling south on Wayne Avenue. To detour, motorists will take Wayne Avenue to Prat Drive to Hospital Road.

There will also be a pedestrian detour in front of the KCAC. The pedestrian detour will be Wayne Avenue to Prat Drive to Wayne Avenue.

​The $11.9 million project is estimated to be completed in October 2024 by contractor, HRI, Inc. of State College.
