St. Charles County Advises Residents of Fireworks Ordinances

As residents and visitors prepare to celebrate Independence Day, St. Charles County Government reminds citizens of fireworks ordinances in unincorporated county and local municipalities. A summary of these ordinances, including dates and times fireworks may or may not be permitted within each jurisdiction, is available in this video: https://youtu.be/n6rEPt1HPvc.

St. Charles County Public Health suggests following these safety tips from the American Pyrotechnics Association:

  • Fireworks should be lit by adults.
  • Light fireworks on a smooth, flat surface that is away from people. Do not light them inside a container, especially a glass or metal container that may explode.
  • Set off fireworks in a clear area that is located away from homes, dry leaves or other flammable material.
  • Keep a bucket of water nearby to collect spent fireworks or to soak unexploded devices. Do not attempt to re-light "duds" or malfunctioning fireworks.
