Ministry of Investment/BKPM Ready to Hold 2nd TIIWG Meeting in Surakarta

Jakarta, 3 July 2022 - The Ministry of Investment /Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) together with Ministry of Trade and Ministry of Industry as members of the G20 Trade, Investment, and Industry Working Group (TIIWG) will hold the 2nd TIIWG Meeting. This meeting will take place in Surakarta City, Central Java on 5-7 July 2022 as a continuation of the 1st meeting of G20 TIIWG last March which was also held in Surakarta City.

The 2nd TIIWG meeting will discuss 3 issues, namely Reform of World Trade Organization (WTO); Response of Trade, Investment and Industry to Pandemics and the Global Health Architecture; and Encouraging Sustainable Investment in the context of Global Economic Recovery.

Minister of Investment/Chairman of Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia expressed his hope that the meeting will run smoothly. In addition, this TIIWG meeting can provide concrete results in the investment, industry, and trade sectors that are in line with the main deliverable of Indonesia's G20 Presidency, namely the architect of global health, digital economic transformation, and energy transition, particularly collaboration in sustainable and inclusive investment.

"Through this TIIWG meeting, we hope to realize economic transformation, one of which is through sustainable and inclusive investment. We must take advantage of the momentum of Indonesia's G20 Presidency this year," said Bahlil.

The First TIIWG Meeting discussed 3 other issues, namely the Role of Multilateral Trading System to accelerate the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Digital Trade and Sustainable Global Value Chains (GVCs), and Sustainable Inclusive Industrialization through Industry. 4.0.

In addition to agenda session, the 2nd G20 TIIWG Meeting will also present 4 other activities, namely Welcome Dinner which will be held at the Kasunanan Palace, national entrepreneur expo in the region, the G20 Cultural Carnival coupled with Solo Batik Carnival (SBC), and Gala Dinner at Surakarta City Hall. The series of activities will be attended by representatives of foreign delegations from G20 member countries, 11 invited countries, and 7 international organizations.

"On this occasion, we will also present MSME exhibitions from various regions, as well as presenting local culture and traditional culinary. We present the complete package of Nusantara for G20 delegates," said Bahlil.

The 2nd TIIWG meeting is part of a series of activities for Indonesia's 2022 Presidency of G20. The G20 Summit will be held in Bali in November 2022.
