4/9/24 Armed Violence/UPCS/Aggravated UUW/WOF
(PEORIA, IL) Monday, April 8, 2024, at approximately 2:21 p.m. members of the Peoria Police Department's Special Investigations Division (SID) conducted an investigative stop at the intersection of Perry and Green.
During the stop officers made contact with two adult males. Police observed one of the males identified as 20-year-old Keith J. Hamilton holding a heavy object in his front sweatshirt pocket area. Hamilton immediately fled on foot.
After a brief foot chase, Hamilton was apprehended and taken into custody in the 500 block of Morgan without further incident.
During a search of Hamilton's flight path officers with the assistance of a K9 located a discarded handgun. Police also located crack cocaine on Hamilton's person.
Hamilton was transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes and subsequently arrested for Armed Violence, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, No FOID, Possession of a Handgun Under 21, Unlawful Possession of a
Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, Resisting Police, and an Active Warrant.
Hamilton was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
