Resurfacing Work Scheduled in Macon County…

HANNIBAL - Weather permitting, two resurfacing projects in Macon County are set to begin as early as the week of May 20. Contractor crews will start on Route DD, from U.S. Route 63 to Route K, then continue to Route AA, from Route K to the end of state maintenance.

The $6.4M contract, awarded last year to Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. of Columbia, Missouri, includes several additional resurfacing projects, which are scheduled to be begin in late-June and completed by November 1, 2024:

  • Macon County, Route T - From Missouri Route 3 to U.S. Route 63
  • Randolph County, Route FF - From Route CC to the end of state maintenance
  • Randolph County, Route CC - From Route J to Route K
  • Randolph County, Route K - From U.S. Route 63 at Cairo to Missouri Route 151
  • Randolph/Monroe County, Route M - From U.S. Route 63 in Randolph County to Missouri Route 151 in Monroe County

These resurfacing projects are included as part of Gov. Parson's Rural Road program. With the Governor's signing of the Fiscal Year 2024 budget, an additional $100 million in General Revenue was made available for Missouri's low volume rural roads. Using asset management data, the Missouri Department of Transportation identified 1,567 lane miles of low volume roads ranked in poor condition. These locations will receive resurfacing treatments of hot mix asphalt to improve the road conditions. The roads have been bundled into several large contracts across the state. For more information on the Governor's Rural Roads Program, visit Governor's Rural Roads Program | Missouri Department of Transportation (modot.org).

Traffic will be reduced to one lane with a 9-foot width restriction at the location where crews are actively working. Flaggers and a pilot car will be utilized for traffic control to guide traffic through the work zone. Workers will be present during daylight hours. All work is weather dependent and schedules are subject to change.
